Abstract

Nowadays, we have more software tools than we know what to do with – at least it seems that way. Since most tools are not used, even after they are purchased. Why is this? Are software engineers too dumb to use them? Are the tools themselves somehow deficient? Perhaps we are not teaching people how to use them effectively? Or do personal psychological rules, or possibly organization rules get in the way of adoption? We’ll apply some systems thinking to these questions, to the goal of improving the actual use of software tools.
